Greg Isenberg’s recent tweet has sparked conversations we stopped having

Oct 10, 2024

While everybody is talking about Greg Isenberg’s tweet on the increased trend in people searching for friends, we’re big believers of it! There’s only so much social media someone can use before they realise- offline friendships are way more meaningful and comforting than virtual friendships.

It’s also pretty interesting to see the increasing trend of finding ways to make new friends but more importantly, it’s about the subtly increasing need of the society to connect outside of the virtual world.

So, how to make new friends?

In our experience, we strongly stand behind the fact that real friendships take place offline when people spend time in-person, bonding over common interests and what’s a better common interest to talk about if not a hobby?

Hobbies help us relax, unwind and dedicate sometime out of a hectic day to ourselves. Bonding with people who share same hobbies as us is the perfect starter to making friends.

Imagine not having to do small talks instead, you can share your honest thoughts and the other person’s opinions has all your attention too because both of you love chess as a hobby. There’s suddenly so much to talk about and it doesn’t feel unnatural!

Alrighty, hobbies are cool.
What else can help you make friends?

This may sound lame- meeting like-minded people, being open to conversations with them and spending quality time with them.

Hear us out, ever thought why it was a lot easier to make friends in school and college?

It was because we used to meet the same kind of people on a regular basis, so connecting with people with whom you actually want to be friends was much more simple and accessible.

With that same logic, wouldn’t it be much simpler if we could actually make sometime every week and hangout with like-minded people often?

And lastly, being a part of a hobby group/club/community is so important. We often overlook the feeling of belongingness and how it important it is as humans to is connect with others- to feel sense of comfort and joy.

Misfits hobby clubs strongly stand by the principles of exploring hobbies with like-minded people via regular offline meetups. We welcome everyone who’s passionate about a hobby and finding/ building a community around it.
